Julie Bourgeois (1972) Born in Quebec (Canada) . Julie Bourgeois is autodidact. After Art Studies and various collaborations in several disciplines of art including theater, film-making and literature she chooses early the travel to anchor her desire to sound the world. Having pursued her road during more than fifteen years through professions and continents, she puts down her luggage in Andalusia, from where -for the last 6 years, she concetrates her creativity into the meeting of light and transparency, persuing Movement to express a vision made of Interactions and therefore reflecting the thousands of layers that our lifes and environment are made of.

Part of the modern superimpositionism movement, exploring digitalisation as a material of composition, Julie Bourgeois places her results on transparent or uncommon supports. As in a tale, her work superposes points of view, symbols and interpretations. Elements often abstruse are transformed, retouched, re-painted, linked together into a coherent image representing different faces of “the reality of one moment”, of a story or of a personality.

Using natural and artificial light to create transparency and reflections, indissociable parts of her subjects, she proposes a maximalist vision, using the superimposition to invite you to plunge into the forever hide-and-seek game, a descriptive and unusual universe.

One of the few contemporanean portraitist, her personal work -and many of her commissioned portraits can be seen all over Europe, in Middle-Est and North America.

Después de sus estudios de arte y varias colaboraciones en diversas disciplinas artísticas incluyendo teatro, cine y literatura, decide muy pronto viajar para satisfacer su deseo de auscultar el mundo. Después de más de 15 años persiguiendo su camino por profesiones y continentes se ha asentado en Andalucía desde hace seis años, donde concentra su creatividad en el encuentro de la luz y la transparencia, buscando el Movimiento para expresar un mundo de Interacciones y por lo tanto reflejando miles de capas de las que están hechas nuestra vida y entorno.

Parte del movimiento superposicionista moderno explorando la digitalizaciόn como materia de composiciόn, Julie Bourgeois pone sus resultados sobre soportes transparentes o inusitados. Como en un cuento, su trabajo superpone puntos de vista, símbolos e interpretaciones. Elementos amenudo obtrusos son transformados, retocados, repintados y entrelazados dando una imagen coherente que representa diferentes caras de “la realidad de un momento”, de una historia o de una personalidad. Utiliza la luz natural y artificial para crear transparencias y reflejos como parte indisociable del tema. Nos propone una visiόn maximalista, utilizando la superposiciόn para invitarnos a sumergirnos en un juego de escondite eterno, un universo descriptivo e inusual.

Julie Bourgeois es una de las pocas retratistas contemporáneas, su obras personales , y muchos de sus retratos por encargo, pueden verse por toda Europa, Oriente Medio y Norteamérica.
